We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced R&D Unit Leader heading synthetic and analytical R&D teams for our late-stage small molecule pharmaceutical development platform.
**How will you contribute?**
- Drive technical excellence of the teams to assure the development of cost-efficient, safe and robust pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for our CDMO clients as well as for proprietary EUROAPI business.
- Contribute to the robust and high-quality manufacturing of clinical, and commercial drug substances by providing broad chemical expertise to multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Drive, coordinate, and report process improvement activities related to the existing drug substance portfolio of EUROAPI.
- Assure state of the art development capabilities in catalysis (enzymatic and metal-catalyzed), continuous manufacturing including PAT, photocatalysis and electrochemistry for the development of environmental benign and cost competetive
- Lead and track internal and client funded development projects in close alignment with CDMO matrix organization
- Impact the generic API portfolio by driving the re-design of manufacturing process with respect to equipment availability, costs, and process safety
- Share and train best practice processes with the industrial and development organization to assure high quality and economic viable API supply for Euroapi’s clients.
**What will you do?**
- Manage a team of approx. 30 synthetic and analytical scientists and technicians at EUROAPI’s German manufacturing site in Frankfurt
- Collaborate with other departments, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in pharmaceutical development, including new technologies and regulatory requirements.
- Define the priorities of the Development Unit aligned with the strategic orientation of the R&D platform
- Manage and further develop a highly skilled technical team
- Evaluate CDMO business opportunities and provide technical support for the quote preparation.
- Support the identification of internal process improvement initiatives underlying cost analysis and define resulting development activities.
- Provide scientific, strategic and tactical guidance for efficient project execution
- Participate in client meetings to offer internal expertise to CDMO clients
- Support the implementation and technology transfer of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes from and to the client in close cooperation with production and engineering

**Education**
- PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, or a related field.
**Experience**
- At least 6 years of experience in pharmaceutical development, with a focus on small molecule drug substance (CDMO) development and manufacturing
- Experience managing a team of scientists and technicians.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for drug development and manufacturing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Excellent knowledge in modern organic chemistry including continuous manufacturing technologies as CSTR and MRT
- High level of technical understanding
- Experience of managing and supporting a technical team in a complex and fast paced environment
- Experience of developing people and teams to help them achieve their potential
- Good problem-solving skills and logical approach to solving scientific problems.
- Experience in regulatory use of statistical experimental designs and multivariate data analysis
- Good presentation skills to present information to customers, clients, and other employees
- Good coaching, interpersonal and communication skills
- Goal oriented and good organizational skills.
- Language skills: proficient in English, preferrably fluent in German
