We are in search of a seasoned

Tech Lead in Computer Vision

with a specialised focus on colour processing, object detection and imaging in the AgriTech sector, particularly in Fruit Imaging. The ideal candidate will possess a rich background in developing and implementing novel solutions for complex agricultural challenges through advanced imaging and analytical methods. While there are no direct reports for this role, it is a technical leadership position that requires the expertise in the computer vision field required to make decisions that will have a profound effect on the success of the product. The role also requires exceptional communication skills to upskill and mentor other members of the team across the seniority range. About the role: Design, implement, and optimise algorithms for image processing, pattern recognition, and machine learning in agriculture. Use your deep expertise in working with practical cameras to compensate for distortion, white balance, perspective effects, and more. Conduct thorough testing and validation of imaging models and algorithms in practical agricultural environments. Stay updated on the latest advancements in computer vision and machine learning to enhance our systems. Apply statistical models to both adjust for population ground-truth observations in algorithm development, and to improve the population predictions we make about fruit characteristics for customers Offer technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members. Engage with stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural experts, and tech partners, to ensure that our solutions are well-aligned with industry needs. Publish research findings in leading journals and represent the company at international conferences and forums. About you: PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with a specialisation in Computer Vision or Image Processing. Over 10 years of professional experience in computer vision, with proven expertise in hyper-spectral imaging. Strong experience writing algorithms that perform well for different camera systems, from smartphone cameras to industrial cameras. Background in AgriTech, particularly in fruit imaging, is a huge plus. Deep expertise in classical image processing techniques, such as edge detection, blob detection, colour processing, classification, and preprocessing Experience with production image processing libraries such as OpenCV A working knowledge of the latest machine learning techniques, including deep and classical machine learning, to know when to apply which tool. Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. Software engineering skills - you can write clean, scalable code and deploy your algorithms to production, in collaboration with software engineers A deep understanding of statistics (both classical and Bayesian) is a huge plus. Proficient in programming languages like Python, C++, and MATLAB. Demonstrated capability to lead complex R&D initiatives. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Robust portfolio of relevant projects and achievements. A strong publication record in relevant fields is highly preferred.
