The Jobholder is responsible for defining the piping system that:
Complies with the Client and Project Specifications, FPI Standards, and the applicable International Standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Sales and Marketing Support
Provide answers to all technical questions raised by the Client or the Sales Department during the inquiry stage.
Attend meetings with Clients to discuss project design requirements.
Provide product selection recommendations to the Sales Department.
Product Selection and Technical Documentation
Review all submitted inquiry documents to understand the application requirements and design parameters.
Coordinate with the Sales Department to provide any missing design parameters or projects documents.
Coordinate with the Costing Department to understand the cost impact of the various product options and to select the most cost-effective and optimized product.
Issue Quotation Technical Documents, System Summaries, Calculation Sheets, Design Envelopes, Pipe Data Sheets, and Technical Comments.
Project Specific Product Qualification
Define the qualification requirements of Fiberglass products for ongoing projects.
Review, and approve the qualification test drawings.
Inspect the qualification test spools prior to test execution to confirm their compliance.
Coordinate with the QC Department to execute the qualification tests as required by the Client Specifications and the International Standards.
Manufacturing Unit Support
Perform a technical review of received Sales Orders to ensure the proper product selection and execution.
Issue the production System Summary and revise all technical documents to reflect the latest Bill of Quantity provided by the Projects Department.
Issue the Stress Analysis input data, envelopes, mechanical properties, and the temperature.
Coordinate with the Projects Department and attend project meetings to resolve all technical issues prior to or during the execution of projects.
Provide answers to technical questions raised by the Production, QC, and Site Services Departments.
Maintain knowledge of the local unit production tooling and availability of products, mandrels, and molds.
Attend technical meetings with the Stress Engineer to resolve technical issues for ongoing projects.
Review the stress analysis report and recommendations prepared by the Stress Engineer for ongoing projects.
International Standards and Specifications Review
Review and understand all the latest International Standards applicable to Fiberglass Products.
Review and understand all the latest Key End User and Client Specifications applicable to Fiberglass Products.
Prepare Technical Comments on all Key End User and Client specifications.
Value Engineering
Implement the culture of Value Engineering in all aspects of the local Manufacturing Unit Technical Support Department policies and activities.
Engage the Regional Technical Manager Engineering to discuss product optimization solutions.
Attend meetings with the Clients for critical inquiries and projects when needed.
Be aware of, and fully understands, the latest development activities undertaken by the Technology Department as well as the best practices for applying the Value Engineering Process.
Department Policies, Procedures, and Performance Appraisal
Apply existing departmental procedures and controls to cover all areas of technical activities.
Recommend improvements to existing departmental policies and procedures.
Set individual objectives.
Recommend departmental objectives.

JOB RELEVANT INFORMATION (BOUNDARIES & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY)
Has authority to select or approve the type of product to offer on technical grounds for all Non-Value Engineered inquiries.
Must consult with the Technical Manager prior to finalizing the recommendations for Key Value Engineered inquiries.
Skills
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (4 Yrs.) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 2 years work experience in designing/drafting of Fiberglass Piping.
or –
Engineering Diploma with at least 6 years work experience in designing/drafting of Fiberglass Piping.
Preferred Experience:
Composite Pipe Design
