Role purpose: (IP & Packet Core Expert Position)

To apply expert-level technical skills in the design, development, deployment, and configuration of Mobile subscriber management platforms for 3G, 4G and 5G ((including PS, IP & Datacom, CUPS, HLR-FE, HSS-FE, UDR, UDM and EDA/ provisioning mediation) with a high understanding of GP Core Network. A key part of this role will be to lead change and new ways of working with cross domains, planners, incident management operations and technology teams. A positive “can do” attitude to lead and work collaboratively with the team and be a highly effective team player. A solid understanding of automation and scripting (such as Python and Ansible) will be highly advantageous as they will be a key part of developing GP’s Core Control platforms. Candidates should also be able to lead and drive DevOps practices with a major focus on Network Security & Resiliency.

How the role contributes to business strategy?

 The role will lead the ongoing Data growth and evolution of the Packet Core Network. The role will be committed to lead all projects on the Retail and Wholesale VNF platforms, focusing on design, development, and DevOps. GP is committed to a low latency, high performance, secure and resilient network. This role leads the new way of working DevOps activities associated with GP’s Core Network.

 The measurable deliverables and outcomes of this role: Ability to lead Data & IP projects, but also work independently and collaboratively with teams. Demonstrated end to end accountability and delivery of quality engineering solutions in relation to detailed design, testing, integration, and deployment. Troubleshooting complex incidents and lead incident management teams. Documentation as required; SAD, LLD, HLD, MOP, Jira tickets and Confluence pages

  Have subject matter expertise within PS Core & IP domains. Excellent understanding of Core Network architecture and interfaces. Advanced knowledge of various network protocols. Troubleshooting and monitoring mobile networks using tools like Smart Care, Wireshark and Splunk. Ownership of the design, architecture, preparation, and deployment of platform configuration data on the Application platforms. Production operational ownership, providing technical direction and problem solving. Work closely with Incident Management Operation (IMO) to resolve escalated incidents and being highly customer focused. Challenge and change the current ways of working and develop solutions that use the latest available industry tools and work practices, eg Ansible for Automation. Work closely with our MME, UGW vendor to enhance, lifecycle and road map the platform, raise issues, test, and deploy fixes into the production environment. Detailed knowledge of NFVi SDN and VNF, Wireless applications such as SAPC, EPG, MME and DSC and the provisioning systems will be an advantage. Lead the development of supportive scripts to validate or interrogate network elements. Validating and producing SAD, LLD, HLD & MOPs. Ownership of growth forecasts and lifecycle management. Continuously drive down the rate of problem recurrence. Education:  BSC Engineering in CSE/EEE/ECE (Minimum Grad: 3.4 Out of 4)

Minimum Experience: 5 years in telecommunication with relevant filed. Advanced Mobile Core Skills Strong skills in Mobile protocols Experience in IP and Mobile Data Core network. Previous experience in Telecommunications and NFV-I Core platforms. Strong in policy & Charging function, Depth Packet, routing protocols and their application. Experience in maintaining Virtualised environments.Sound understanding of network services/protocols (Diameter, SIGTRAN, SIP, LDAP, REST, SOAP, SS7) Possess a detailed, in-depth knowledge and understanding of Core Network Good understanding and knowledge of Provisioning systems. Provide detail and comprehensive reporting on fault investigations and or projects undertaken. Virtualised and Cloud Competence AdvancedExperience in onboarding VMs onto a Cloud and coaching users how to do it themselves. Knowledge in Open stack, VMWare, and Linux. Programming Demonstrate the ability to write programs to avoid time consuming manual task and use of APIs.Skilled in Ansible, Python and the use of code repositories such as GitHub. Competent in writing scripts.
