We are looking for Technician to join Surgery and Imaging team of In Vivo unit at our Kuopio office. We are primarily looking for an expert in radiation work. The position is fixed term.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:


o    Basic functions of an in vivo laboratory
o    daily care and maintenance of laboratory animals
o    conducting research techniques on laboratory animals in models of CNS disease (dosing, behavioral testing, collection, and handling of tissue samples)
o    preparation of measurements, collection, and documentation of data
o    other support activities of the unit and assistance in other tasks as necessary

 

    Practices related to radiation work
o    Radiation safety
o    Pipetting, handling of radioactive substances
o    Weighing using analysis scale
o    Preparation of solutions
o    Maintenance related to the operative functions and equipment of the radio laboratory and HPLC facilities
o    Treatment, storage, and disposal of active waste
o    Use of various devices (Gamma counter, dose calibrator, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, background radiation meter/dosimeters) Job Qualifications

o    Category A radiation work 
o    Suitable qualifications acquired through vocational training/studies (e.g., laboratory technician, biomedical analyst, animal nurse, clinic animal nurse, laboratory animal nurse, science student, radiographer)
o    Possibility to work in animal facilities
o    Effective teamwork and active communication essential
o    Basic computer knowledge, e.g., using Microsoft Office software

 

Considered an advantage:
o    Experience in laboratory animal work and research technical tasks (laboratory animal care, medicine, behavioral testing)
o    Surgical or imaging skills
o    HPLC expertise 
o    Good oral and written English skills
